The Connors State Cowgirls bounced back after Saturday evenings heartbreaking lost to Seminole State by defeating Southwestern Christian 72-65 in Bethany, Oklahoma Tuesday evening. The Cowgirls had 5 players score in double digits lead by freshman forward Haitiana Releford who scored 18 points followed by Kylie Eubanks with 13 points Samantha Shanks and Adrian Crockwell both had 12 points a piece and Carrigan Hill scored 10 points. Freshman post Kayley Turner had 6 points and Zoe Nation scored 1 point.
The Cowgirls struggled from the three point line this evening only knocking down 5 three pointers when they have been averaging 8.1 a game, but did connect from the free throw line knocking down 21 of 24 free throws. The Cowgirls now improve to 15-6 overall and will be in action again on Thursday evening at 5:30 pm inside Melvin Self Fieldhouse taking on the Redlands Lady Cougars.
"I felt like we didn't connect from the three point line like we normally do, but did a tremendous job of getting to the rim and drawing fouls then knocking down our free throws," said Head Cowgirl Coach Jamie Fisher. "This game was won at the free throw line for us tonight and in a game where we didn't shoot like our normal self we found a way to get the win with free shots and solid defense down the stretch when we needed too."
