In the week ending May 16, one gas station in Mayes County sold diesel gas at the lowest reported price of $4.84 per gallon, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
The county registered an average of $5.04 per gallon for diesel gas.
Of the 30 reported gas stations in cities within Mayes County, 13 offered diesel gas.
Across Oklahoma, the average reported price for a gallon of diesel gas rose to $5.01, compared to the week before.
Fuel prices climbed sharply in spring 2026 as tensions in the Middle East disrupted global oil shipments and refinery outages tightened gasoline supplies in parts of the United States. Analysts monitoring the energy market have pointed to refinery utilization rates, U.S. crude oil inventories, OPEC+ production policies and seasonal driving demand as factors influencing fuel costs in 2026, particularly during periods of refinery outages or shipping disruptions affecting global oil supplies.
